01Who Zante suits

Zante is one of the best known party holiday destinations for students and young adults, and Laganas mainly suits young adults and partygoers.^[1][2] Some hotels there are aimed specifically at 18 to 30s.^[1] If you want a quieter holiday, other resorts suit that better.^[2]

02Drinking age and club entry

The legal drinking age in Greece is 18, and one travel writer reports that 18 is also the age to enter a club.^[3] In practice ID checks vary, so carry your passport or a copy of it in case you are asked.^[3] Entry rules and age limits differ by venue and event, so check the rules for each event before you book.

Walking around with an open drink in the street is not legal, according to the same writer.^[3]

03Looking after your group

• Agree a meeting point and a plan for getting home before you go out.
• Keep your phone charged, and save your hotel's name and address in your phone.
• Do not split up on the strip late at night, and do not leave anyone alone.
• Eat before drinking, drink water, and know your limit.^[1]

04Drink spiking

Never leave your drink unattended, buy bottled drinks where you can, and do not drink anything that looks cloudy. If you feel unwell, get help straight away from friends, venue staff or a medic.^[1][4]

05Quads and mopeds

Quads and mopeds need the right licence, a helmet and insurance that covers them, and riding without a licence and insurance is against the law.^[1] Read the quad and moped guide before you hire.

06Money, taxis and getting home
